Acting Biography

David James Carlson
​Actor – Voiceover - Musician  
​
​He has worked as an actor and actor/musician in numerous professional theatre productions and has been part of the Twin Cities theatre legacy in Minnesota since 1975.  With a B.A. in Theatre and Communication Arts, a music minor and further work on a Master of Fine Arts degree, David has made a career in theatre and many  aspects of the entertainment world.   His work includes American theater classic plays to Shakespeare, fencing, stage combat, mime and dance movement and voice.  He has also appeared in numerous commercials and several films. David's many voice over jobs Includes an award-winning radio commercial. He has been a cast member in 3 Twin Cities theater Kudo awards for Best Production.

David's multi-talented skills have also put him behind the scenes as director, playwright, voiceover artist and designer/technical director for many productions including work on the 1992 Superbowl halftime show and 5 years with Sesame Street Live touring productions. He has won 7 awards for Best Design, And a Best Director Award from the Minnesota Community College Fine Arts Festival. As Gandolf, He was a member of the 1980 Best Production awarded by the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. For the Twin Cities theater Kudo awards for Best Production he was part of the cast for: Warp- a science fiction trilogy, The Accidental Death Of An Anarchist, both at Mixed Blood theater, and Diamond Studs at Plymouth Radisson Playhouse.
